සභාපති පුටුව යළිත් සරත් රත්නායකට
සමස්තලංකා බිත්තර නිෂ්පාදකයින්ගේ සංගමයේ අභිනව සභාපති ලෙස හිටපු සභාපති ආර් එම් සරත් රත්නායක මහතා නිතරඟයෙන් තේරීපත්විය. එහෙත් එම සංගමයේ මහ සභා රැස්වීමේදී පැවැත්වූ නිළවරණයෙන් මෙවර එහි ලේකම් වරයා ලෙසින් ජයන්ත විජේකුමාර මහතා පත්වූ අතර භාණ්ඩාගාරිකවරයා ලෙස පත්කරගනු ලැබූයේ එම් ඒ එම් අක්රම් මහතායි. පුරා වසර 12ක් අඛණ්ඩව සභාපති දූරය ඉසිලූ සරත් රත්නායක මහතා එහිදී රැස්ව සිටි පිරිසගෙන් හැඬූ කඳුලින් ඉල්ලාසිටියේ තමන්ව ඉතාම පීඩනයක් ගෙනදෙන මෙම තනතුරින් නිදහස් කරදෙන ලෙසයි. ඉකුත් වකවානුවේ පාරිභෝගික අධිකාරිය මගින් පැනවූ ගැසට් වලට එරෙහිව අධිකරණයට ගොස් ජයගෙන තමන්ගේ නිෂ්පාදනයට මිල තීරණය කරන එකම සංගමය මේතාක් දුර රැගෙන ආවේ තම නිවසට බෝම්බ ප්රහාර එල්ලවෙමින් ජීවිත තර්ජන ආදිය සමග බවද ඒ මහතා එහිදී පැවසීය. කෙසේවෙතත් සංගමය නියෝජනය කරමින් පැමිණතිබූ දහසකට ආසන්න පිරිස එකහෙළා සභාපති තනතුර යළිත් සරත් රත්නායක මහතා විසින්ම භාරගතයුතු බවට තීරණයකොට තිබිණ. මෙම අවස්ථාවට පශු සම්පත් නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය නාමල් කරුණාරත්න, ප්රකට ව්යාපාරික ඩඩ්ලි සිරිසේන යන මහත්වරු ඇතුලු පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටියහ. Mr. R. M. Sarath Ratnayake, the former chairman of the All Ceylon Egg Producers Association, was unanimously re-elected as chairman. However, during the official elections held at the General Assembly of the association, Mr. Jayantha Wijekumar was appointed as the secretary, and Mr. M. A. M. Akram was appointed as treasurer. Having served continuously as chairman for a full 12 years, Mr. Sarath Ratnayake, amidst the gathered crowd, tearfully requested to be released from this position that has caused him considerable stress. He also stated that in the past period, after taking legal action against the gazette notifications issued by the Consumer Authority and winning the case, this same association has continued to face threats to his life, including bomb attacks, just for determining the price of his own product at home. Nevertheless, the nearly thousand-strong crowd present, representing the association, unanimously decided that the chairman position should once again be taken up by Sarath Ratnayake. At this occasion, several notable individuals including Deputy Minister of Animal Resources Namal Karunaratne and prominent businessman Dudley Sirisena were also present.
